I have FINALLY released my first album, “PROTESTant Extraordinaire”! It has been a long time coming. This is an album that came from the inner struggle in my heart over the atrocities that I see happening on a daily basis. It started with the genocide in Palestine and the evil and sad repercussions that has had on a people that most don't know or understand. I started thinking about the 60's and the Vietnam era and how some bands were writing music in protest to what was going on. The thought occurred to me that since I hadn't heard much about the genocide issue I would start writing music that I felt would be protestant (i.e. PROTESTant) in nature. Initially the words to several songs came to me almost immediately or at least within a very short period. The main essence of the music came almost as quickly for each song. Then came the recording process which took much more time. The last few songs came fairly quickly as well. After about a year in the making, the album is finally out.
If you would like to hear the songs on my new album you can listen to a clip of each one on the “Music” page. If you want a more “full” version of one of the songs, I offer a free download of “I Am So Angry” if you supply your email address for the download.
The Hymns-Self album is expected to come out sometime in the next few months over Summer of 2026. It will be a worship album and about half of the songs will be old hymns of which I have done some rearranging. The other half will be original songs of worship and one will be a re-recording of an old worship song from my album The Basement Tapes, which is actually my first album (See below -I plan on putting it out sometime after the first two are out).
The Basement Tapes is actually my first album and it will be coming out later this year (The first will be last). It consists of 12 songs written and recorded approximately 25 years ago. The songs range in topic from evangelistic in nature, praise & worship, and a Bible-based song based on the life of Samson. I think that one is my wife's favorite. While the music was not originally composed and recorded with the intent of distribution, it has some songs that many will be able to appreciate and will have more of a "basement recording feel" than my other albums have. You may be saying that you thought they sounded like basement work too... lol. Maybe, but I hope they encourage and challenge you to walk more closely with the King of kings and Lord of lords, Jesus Christ. A special thanks to my grand -daughter Hannah M. Burt for drawing the album cover!
